In a recent interview, director Anu Menon opened up about working with Sanya Malhotra and how it was a pleasure to see her work so dedicatedly towards perfecting her craft.
Talking about how Sanya moulded her looks,Anu Menon shared, "Sweet, youthful and vibrant Sanya Malhotra has donned a new look and avatar to fill the role of Anupama Banerji, Shakuntala Devi's talented and wilful daughter. With straight black locks till her waist and voluminous bangs. Observant and professional to a T, Sanya showed us what it takes to take on every role head-on."
She further spoke about how Sanya took various lessons and did exercises to nail her dialog deliveries and shared, "With a pencil between her teeth to perfect her dialogue delivery and number of vocal exercises to train her tone. It was a pleasure to watch such a young actress take method acting so seriously."
The film stars Vidya Balan in the lead as Shakuntala Devi and also stars Jisshu Sen Gupta, Sanya Malhotra and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.
The film is already streaming on Amazon Prime Video and is directed by Anu Menon. Shakuntala Devi is produced by Sony Pictures Network Productions and Vikram Malhotra and released across 200 countries and territories on the 31st of July 2020.
